Father’s Day gifts for dog lovers

by Shake Paws

Father’s Day 2015 is on Sunday, 21 June in the UK and the USA. Here are a few ideas for presents for dog-loving dads

Before you know it, Father’s Day will be upon us. Show your metal and plan ahead for a change instead of leaving everything till the last minute and rushing around like a headless chicken. Don’t dwell on that vision too long. Here are a few of our favourite ways to show dad how much he is appreciated. And if you don’t find what you’re looking for, take a look at our Father’s Day gift guide from 2014.

How about a short break?

Hardworking dads will enjoy a short break to get away from the daily grind and unwind with their trusty companions. Many holiday let owners have realised they can’t afford to ignore the huge dog-owning market and made their properties pet friendly. Holiday Cottages has numerous dog-friendly places where you can treat dad (and mum) to a short break, from Scotland to the Lake District to Cornwall and the North Norfolk coast. Take your pick.

In the US, Bring Fido (use the gift code SHAKEPAWS when booking to help support this site) lists a huge range of dog-friendly hotels, B&Bs, vacation rentals and apartments, from mountain retreats to beachfront getaways.

Make a donation to a dog charity

There are numerous ways to donate to dog charities on behalf of your dad. Guide Dogs (UK) and Guide Dogs for the Blind (USA) are just two. You might also like to consider making a donation to dad’s favourite rescue shelter.

Don’t forget the card

Show you’ve put some thought into choosing a card. We love the humorous cards from Paper Plane Designs and the downright practical offerings from Ruby Blue Design, two examples of which are shown below.

And if dad has all the dog gear he could possibly need, Amazon has dedicated Father’s Day gift pages for both its US store and its UK store.
